My Top 5 Spring/Summer 2018 Jackets
With most brands now starting to send out their stock to companies for the forthcoming Spring/Summer 2018 collection's, companies have now started to tease us with showing their picks of the stock coming in onto there social media accounts with companies like Oi Polloi and End Clothing who have already started to upload some of the stock as it all starts to arrive in from the brands. The list below are the Top 5 pieces which I personally favour myself and caught my eye when looking at the collections that have been released from brands such as Stone Island, CP Company, Fjallraven, Engineered Garments and Albam.
5- CP Company Pocket Goggle Jacket - Classic Green
The reason why this jacket caught my eye was due to it having a Watch viewer which the company removed from their pieces a few years back and started experimenting the lenses on the left-hand side of the arm and then on the chest although this didn't seem to popular especially with the 'Casual' following behind the brand. The jacket comes in at a price of £549 and is available on Aphrodite1994.com although the one reason why this piece isn't further up the list is because of the pricing of the jacket been so high especially when it's a summer jacket and the quality of CP Company as a whole isn't as good as it was a few years back when the brand was part of d Stone Island and the Sportswear Company S.P.A. The second reason is because the jacket will be a 'sweatbox' similar to the Stone Island Lamy pieces which have the same foil lining which from owning a Stone Island Lamy I found that in the summer, in particular, I would be sweating due to the material inside and the only time I'd personally purchase this is if the jacket hits the sale rack because of the price which I personally can't justify.
4- Albam Smock Jacket (Lavender Fog)
The second jacket is the Albam Smock Jacket in the 'Lavender Fog' colourway which to me is a more wearable everyday jacket compared to the CP Company goggle jacket which isn't as wearable as the Albam piece because the lavender colour will go better with more colours that I personally wear such as black and you can even wear it in the autumn months if it's not too cold. The jacket itself is also more affordable coming with a price tag of £169 and when you compare that price to say a CP Company which is probably more of a statement piece then the Albam but if you're looking for a jacket which goes with everyday wear and practicality then I would recommend this as it's not hurting the bank account too much but it's also proven popular with every size apart from Medium and Extra-large selling out completely although the piece is also available on other sites such as End Clothing. Albam is also a less well-known brand compared to the likes of Stone Island although personally I like how basic and wearable the pieces are and I believe that Albam will start to become more well-known due to this.
3- Fjallraven Greenland Zip Shirt Jacket - Fern Green
Here is the third piece that I'm mentioning and this is the Fjallraven Zip Shirt Jacket which is part of the Greenland series where it comes in different versions from the Greenland hooded jacket and then the zip jacket which is similar to an overshirt although this piece will be as thick as the standard Greenland hooded jacket which is a good thing as Fjallraven, in my opinion, are one the best brands I've had in jackets for quality as you can purchase wax to go over it if it starts to fade and it's an outdoor brand so it's very pratical. The reason why this piece, in particular, caught my eye was with the 'apple green' colour which will go well with many outfits due to it been an easy colour to wear with and because it's a piece that will be good value for money once it's released online and the quality is amongst the best for the price that you pay.
Unfortunately, I don't have a link as it's not been released although it would be worth checking Oi Polloi in the forthcoming months because the image above comes from their own blog
2- Stone Island Marina Jacket SS18 - 'Peach'
Similar to the Fjallraven jacket this piece hasn't been released as of yet, although from what I can see the piece should be a Marina piece which is part of the Stone Island range that they tend to do in the summer collections which is very similar to the Stone Island pieces that there was when the brand first started in the Mid 80's with the lifesaver pieces and the early Marina stage. The colour is very eye-catching in a peach which they like the Lilac's seem to be the colour of the collection with them releasing many other pieces in these colours which seem to be very promising as I found that the last collection from Autumn/winter 2017 was quite disappointing with many pieces just reissues from previous seasons and then the experimental patchwork that they have done on Sweatshirts, overshirts and jackets. The colour is a good one for the summer with it livening the wardrobe, I personally think the price point on the jacket will be within the £325-425 area.
1- Engineered Garments Cagoule Shirt - (Yellow Superfine Poplin)
The final piece that I'll be speaking about in this article is from the brand Engineered Garments which can be found on Oi Polloi at the price point of £258, I personally think that this cagoule is a statement piece for the colour as the yellow will stand out especially if you're wearing it on the terrace on a moody Saturday or even for wearing down the local pub I personally think this jacket is a really good piece for practicality as it's lightweight and it's also got the two pockets on the front. The piece is made of 100% cotton so like I said it's very lightweight but this is ideal for the summer and knowing our Great British summer the sun will probably be rare so this is ideal because it means that if it's just a little windy or cold then if you wear something underneath this piece from Engineered Garments is ideal for a light layer in the summer. The piece is also available in green although I personally prefer the yellow myself.
